To get rid of the garbage being dumped at the sewerage farm at Vidyaranyapuram, the Mysuru City Corporation is proposing to install a waste-to-energy plant at Vidyaranyapuram. Apart from this it has decided to set up two more compost plants at Kesare and Rayanakere.

The government has approved a proposal sent by the MCC recently for the installation of a waste-to-energy plant and it had appointed an agency called I-dec to prepare a detailed project report (DPR).

As per the rough estimate, over 7 lakh tonnes of garbage has piled up at the Vidyaranyapuram sewerage farm in the past several years.

Once the plant is established, the garbage pile is expected to be cleared within eight months.

Later garbage which is being generated every day will be used to produce energy from the waste on daily basis.
